Provide companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and personal care. Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Coordinator. Assist clients with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) within the scope of practice for a non-registered health care provider. Support clients with transfers, ambulation, and prescribed exercises. Ensure client safety by using equipment appropriately and safely. Work within your experience level, practicing safely and competently within the job description. Maintain accurate and thorough records and documentation. Promptly communicate client concerns as trained.
At least 18 years of age.
Completion of an approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a Community College or a National Association of Career Colleges-approved institution OR completion of Year 1 in an RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy program.
Current CPR (BCLS) Certification.
Current First Aid Certification.
Proficient verbal and written communication in English.
Legally eligible to work in Canada or valid work or study permit without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
Criminal record and vulnerable sector check completed within the last year.
Negative TB skin test or chest X-ray within the past two years.
Proof of vaccination/immunity against polio, MMR, hepatitis B, COVID-19, influenza, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, and varicella.
Two professional references.
Preferred (but not required):
Previous home care experience.
Valid Canadian driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
